Music has a way of bringing people together. And in our current predicament of racial strife in this country we need reminders of times when we jammed together. I was jr high or high school with then album came out. And this CD was on repeat. Months later I found out Lisa Stansfield was white. Not that it made a difference. But it was shocking to me because of her voice had so much flavor. Recently I came across this video. And it got me teary. As Lisa sings her heart out the crowded chants "Go Lisa, Go Lisa" and it reminds me that there are spaces where we support each other. Music and The Arts have been one of those spaces. If it's good. It's good. People will pull up and support.
